BACCANNNNOOOOO!

What is it?
An anime. Based on a series of light novels. Sound familiar? Yup, it's by the same people behind Durarara!!
I've seen the first 7 episodes, and will probably finish it over the next few days. I was fortunate enough to collect the entire series at Armageddon without even realising!

It is set primarily in the 1930's in the USA, but is set in multiple periods of time. It is one big mush of gang wars, dynamic duo's, immortality, blood gore and LOTS OF BLOOD. and bullets. Don't watch if you don't like violence.

There are some clear similarities between Baccano! and Durarara!!;

-Both have strange names with an '!'.
-Both have strong gang/group war-in-the-city themes.
-There is a character called the 'Rail Tracer' which has some similarities to the 'Slasher' in Durarara!!
-The character Firo looks a bit like Kida!
-The opening sequences list all of the main characters.
-Both have a jazzy soundtrack, in Baccano! especially it is really effective.

Why should you watch it?

It has a large range of characters, from bloodlusty men to a guy called 'Jacuzzi Splot'.
The soundtrack is extremely good.
The art, as in Durarara!!, is awesome.
The plot is complicated, but keeps your attention as it slowly shows the connections between the characters and their history.
Much of it is set on a train called the Flying Pussyfoot.
There is some decapitation, just for you, Laurence.

It'll be on animefreak.tv and downloadable from...somewhere.
I'm hesitant to lend my DVD's 'cause they'd get lost or broken or just take forever to be returned at the very least.

Or if a few people are keen, I could organise a viewing (although heh...we never end up actually watching the anime do we?)
